new tri-series state of origin series planning announcement

After twenty one formidable years of state of origin basketball in the SSPA, a new format is being planned out to take basketball in the SSPA to the next stage/level. This will pave the way in strengthening the Australian World Dwarf Games Basketball team tilt for Gold at the Michigan Games in 2013 and beyond.

The new structure proposes a three match series between Victoria & New South Wales basketball teams.

The Concept- 2011/2012 Three Match Series

Game 1- Saturday 30th July 2011, Venue- TBC, Vic

Game 2- TBC- NSW

Game 3- Saturday 9th June 2012- Albury Sports Stadium, NSW

I look forward to this series being fiercely competitive and played in the spirit of not only the SSPA but the game of basketball.

As this State Of Origin series grows, I'm very hopeful we will be able to get other states on board or at least an Allies team (combining players from those states).

Members from states outside of Vic & NSW are welcome to express interest in competing and may be placed on a team providing they are able to conduct some form of training within their own State.

Also if you are interested in helping out with tasks like scoring, keeping game stats, referring, starting a cheer squad etc, please let your local Sports coordinator.
