2009 albury sporting weekend report

This year’s national sporting weekend in Albury was a little different to others without the traditional rival match between Victoria and New South Wales but word on the street says that the companionship and camaraderie of the weekend was like no other. 85 people enjoyed the company, sites and sports the annual weekend has to offer as well as the bonus of witnessing the fierce training schedule of the Australian World Dwarf Games team.

The weekend would never go ahead without the people who attend so I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who came along. The skills shown out on that basketball court were a sure sign that Australia will have much continuous talent to offer the World Dwarf Games in many years to come. I hope those who are considering coming along, take the plunge and do so next year. I would also like to take this opportunity to make note of the ever-so wonderful organisation skills of Leanne, Trevor and Maddie – the SSPA says a big thank you to you all, as well as a huge congratulations to Jess on the birth of her beautiful baby boy, Nathaniel Colin Besant.

During the weekend, I had the honour of being awarded captain of the Australian World Dwarf Games team. This was one of the most proud moments in my life and I thank the team for having the trust and confidence in me. I, along with our Vice-Captains, Michael Blair and Sam Millard, will lead Australia proud in Belfast and will return with our heads held very high.

Kind regards,

Meredith Tripp

National President
