December 2011 update:

The first World Dwarf Games training & information camp will take place in Melbourne from the 27th-29th of January, if you are coming from interstate and have not yet booked flights I would suggest you do so ASAP. Please let me know your flight details once you have booked so we can organise transport assistance where needed. If you have expressed interest for the 2013 games and are unable to come along for the weekend please contact me by Friday the 30th of December.

Any underage athlete that is attending the weekend without a guardian will need to appoint a guardian for the weekend, if this is an issue again please contact me. Previous update:

The World Dwarf Games 2013 preparation is well underway with the first National training camp to be held in Melbourne between the 27th and 29th of January 2012. The weekend will include distribution of all necessary team information to athletes and guardians including team code of conduct and up to date details of future training camps. All athletes who have expressed interest for the games are expected to be in attendance in January, if this is an issue please contact me on samuel.r.millard@gmail.com.

In addition to all of the team activities over the weekend the Australian Paralympic Committee will be running a Short Statured specific talent search on the weekend which will benefit both the World Dwarf Games athlete preparations and also open pathways to anyone interested in perusing Paralympic endeavours. Please note that as previously advised, the January camp is not a trial or team selection. As preparations for the Michigan games are starting 18 months out for the games team selection will be an ongoing process. We ask that all athletes come along to all training camps with a desire to achieve the best results that they can and a commitment to continued improvement.

We have now received an expression of interest for every event to be held at the games with well over double the amount of athletes having expressed interest compared to Belfast 2009. This gives team Australia a fantastic opportunity and an exciting challenge to continue the success of the previous games, which of course will stem from hard work and an unwavering commitment to the team over the next 18 months.

Please keep in mind that all Australian World Dwarf Games athletes are required to be members of the SSPA to be eligible for any financial assistance as a result of fundraising conducted by the SSPA. Expression of Interest forms and SSPA Membership forms are both available from www.sspa.org.au. All expression of interest forms need to be in by the first training camp.
