Leisa Whitaker, Cathy Hobbs and Carly Myers would like to nominate Hayley
Galbraith for the McHugh/Henderson Memorial Award for her commitment to
improving the environment and helping her local community.
Hayley’s
passion for Australian native flora and fauna, and her commitment to taking on
and tackling environmental issues in her local area is incredibly inspiring, as
is her willingness to help out others in her local community.
Hayley

past three years.

them with common injury’s to guinea pigs, ducks etc.

-
Hayley
is very well known in her community for her natural ability to help with
injured wildlife.
-
In 2005, Hayley was recommended
by someone in the community to a family from McLeod to take care of their
pet rabbit while they were travelling overseas. Hayley was in the local
paper for her efforts for doing such a great job with Wellington for the 1
year she had him. This rabbit came to her on a diet of Nutri Grain, sweet
biscuits - all the wrong foods, Hayley changed his diet and he became a
healthy rabbit. When the family returned, Hayley wrote down what she had
been feeding him and passed it on to the family, who were so grateful
because Wellington stopped having the runs.
-
Volunteer work for the
Greensborough Aquarium taking care of reptiles and fish. The lady who runs
the Greensborough Aquarium has commented that Hayley is amazing at her
ability to care for animals
-
Picking up of rubbish in her
area or even area’s we have visited.
-
Volunteering to walk a
gentleman’s dog, who suffered a stroke and was unable to move his left side.
John heard about Hayley and her passion for animals and came looking for her
in his chair to ask if she could walk his dog for him. John and Hayley have
developed a wonderful friendship.
-
The Galbraith’s family vet is
amazed with her knowledge of diagnosing her animals before he see them.
-
Much to the amusement of
Hayley’s family, Hayley has 18 animals that she cares for each day, which
include several breeds of birds, shingle back lizards, rabbits, guinea pigs,
frogs, cat, dogs, ducks and Mexican walking fish.
